Agreement for the Reduction of Colistin Consumption in Pigs

On 1st December 2016, Inga Food signed a Declaration of Accession to the Agreement for the Reduction of Colistin Consumption in Pigs, within the National Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistances, promoted by the Spanish Agency of Medicine and Sanitary Products (Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality).
The main objectives of the agreement are:
- To reduce colistin consumption in pigs production. The reduction plan will be set in periods, with the target of colistin reduction of 5 mg/PCU in a maximum period of three years
- To control the alternative consumption of antibiotics, in order to prevent the increase in the use of neomycin and/or apramycin instead.
